Platres is Troodos's original, wooded and attractive “British Hill Village”, the best known Central Troodos mountain resort, busy in late spring and summer, and a good centre for walking, at around 1000 metres altitude on Mount Olympus.

Plenty of restaurants, of varying quality but only a few shops and pretty quiet in midwinter.

There can be snow from January to March.

Here are a few suggestions;

4 Star Forest Park Hotel

3 Star New Helvitia Hotel; No specific website. Part of the Minotel Group, and also available through Sunvil, just Google it!

There are a number of adequate budget hotels or bed and breakfast places in Platres all charging much the same price.

Of these the best in 2009 in terms of accommodation (recently renovated), and location on the edge of the village amongst pine trees is the Semiramis Hotel (Bed and Breakfast Only).
