Kakopetria is on the northern Side of Mount Olympus, Central Troodos, but at a lower 700 metre altitude with a kinder winter climate than Platres it is an interesting and active village all year round, much visited by the people of Nicosia in the summer.
Kakopetria has an ancient cobbled high street with plenty of restaurants and shops.
If the budget allows it is a good choice for winter stays, but there are no acceptable lower priced hotels.
